Two Springfield-based social workers will host a party Nov. 18, celebrating the launch of Socialworkerconnect.com, a groundbreaking website that streamlines the arduous process of scheduling appointments for mental healthcare.
With more than a decade each in the social services field, social workers Ramon Lorenzi and Nicole Rodriguez sought out to accelerate the procedure of responding to mental healthcare requests. After a request is made, it typically takes several phone calls and faxes to complete a referral for mental health services.
“It takes days, and sometimes social workers don’t have days,” Rodriguez said. “People need services right away.”
Teaming up with Valley Venture Mentors, MBA graduates and students from the University of Massachusetts, with a seed investment from Babson Capital, Lorenzi and Rodriguez developed Socialworkerconnect.com. The website allows social workers to complete a referral in minutes and get immediate updates from mental health agencies.
In the future, the duo plans on building a mobile app version of Socialworkerconnect.com, further changing the landscape of mental health care.
