The Venture Capital Research Practicum is seeking business orientated students from Western MA area colleges to work on a collaboration to between Valley Venture Mentors (VVM) and Springfield Venture Fund (SVF) to help start-up companies in the VVM Accelerator, preparing to raise capital.
Students are given structure and step by step instructions to lead startups through a standardized investment process that includes working through concepts such as the identification of funds needed, value proposition, true market size, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and company evaluation.
Tasks will include
- Interviewing Startups
- Helping Startups to research and evaluate and measure their market size
- Work with SVF to evaluate the investment opportunity
- Help startups to build a plan for success – Work Breakdown Structures – WBS
Selected participants should expect to spend approximately 3 hours on this task (average) a week over the course of the semester.
Some In person time with startup teams will be required and may take place on a weekend at VVM World Headquarters, in Springfield, MA. Much of the work can be done remotely.
